History
The Company was formed in September 1995, the catalyst being the arrival of an enthusistic officer just moved into the village to join a former Captain from Luton and a former Lieutenant from Kempston. The existing residents had been wanting to start a company for a long time but the time now seemed right. The backing of the church was sought and given. At the same time the Captain of the nearest existing Company wrote expressing her faith in what we were doing and the Church received a letter from a couple of officers living in the village but serving in a Luton Company. Everything seemed to fall into place. After several planning meetings with the local Brigade Development Officer the company met for the first time in September 1995 with 5 Junior Section Boys.

Almost immediately a drum and bugle band was formed with as many officers as boys. A year later a Bell Lyre section was added and in 2000 a bass drum featured for the first time. As of October 2003 the band consists of upto 22 members only 6 of whom are adults. We are beginning to sound quite good!! Annual appearances of the band include St. George's day parades for the Scouts in Luton and Leighton Buzzard, the Lower School May Fayre, the Annual Display (mid May) and the Rememberance Day Parade in Harlington.

In 1998 the Company Section met for the first time with 3 boys. It now consists of 4 boys but only serves those aged between 11 and 15. In September 2008 the young men aged between 15 and 18 began meeting as the Senior Section every other Thursday but also committed to helping in each of the othr sections. The Company's first President's Badge and its first Duke of Edinburg's Bronze Award were presented in March & May 2002. A gold award was won in 2008 and is due to be presented at the Battalion 125 Celebration in November 2008.

National 10-pin Bowling Championship
The company entered this Bedfordshire based competition every year it has existed. We usually fail to qualify for the quarter final stage  but in 2007 we got through to the semi-final before losing to the eventual winners, 1st Bletchley. For the first time we have registered 2 teams in the 2008 event. You can get all of the details about this superb event from it's own web site by clicking here.

Figure Marching
JUNIORS TRIUMPH AGAIN! The most recent Annual battalion Figure Marching competition was held in February 2008.
Figure Marching demands a great deal of skill in remembering a complex series of manoeuvres, performed with accuracy, discipline and smartness. Smartness is also a key feature of the uniform inspection section of the competition.
Our company has entered this event in each of our 13 years of existence, initially in the former Luton and District Battalion and for the past 8 years as part of the new West Anglia Battalion. Our record on entering this years event makes impressive reading:
Won 8, 2nd 1, Retained 1 (event cancelled 1 year). We had a reputation to uphold!

Our aim - to keep other companies off the shield!

The full result can be found here
