What is the
point of life?
What happens when we die?
Is forgiveness possible?
What
relevance does Jesus have for our lives today?
What
is Alpha?
The Alpha course is an
opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith.
It's relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly and
fun.
There is a meal together at the beginning of each
session, which gives you an opportunity to get to know each other.
Listen, learn, discuss, discover and ask anything. Alpha
is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile.
It's supported by all the main Christian denominations
and locally in Harlington through St Mary's, Harlington Methodists and
Life Church. To view the national Alpha
site click on the logo to the left.
What's
involved?
The Alpha course consists of a series of talks looking at
topics such as 'Who is Jesus?' and 'Why and how do I pray?'
After each talk we divide into small groups for a time
of discussion.
Who
is Alpha for?
Alpha is for everyone, especially:
·
Those wanting to investigate Christianity
·
New Christians
·
Newcomers to the church
·
Those who want to brush up on the basics
What
will it cost?
There is no charge for the Alpha course, although you
may wish to make a contribution to the food.
When
and Where?
The course is being run at Parish Hall (near St. Mary’s Parish Church), Harlington on each Tuesday evening for 12 consecutive weeks. The course began on Tuesday 16th January 2007 but anyone is welcome to join the course at any point. Each session starts at 7.45 pm with a hot meal and finishes around 10pm. In addition to the usual Alpha course format two associated groups will be meeting at the same time. These are a follow-up group from the previous Alpha course and the usual Methodist based (but open to all) fellowship group.
